COMPLIMENTARY UPGRADE TO BUSINESS CLASS

Upon booking our accommodation at qualia, the lovely Luxury Specialist Daniela offered us a complimentary upgrade to Business Class on the return flight with Virgin. It was a perfect end to our luxe stay in the Whitsundays. With priority check-in and boarding it makes for no fuss even though Hamilton Island Airport is relatively small. We were allocated Business Class seats 1A and 1C and this was a first for obtaining these priority numbers at the front of the cabin. The leather seats are nearly 50cm in width which provided some extra space and were more than comfortable for the flight back to Sydney.

We were offered a complimentary newspaper and iced water upon boarding. Once in the air, you could opt for a personal Samsung Galaxy tablet with premium headset (to keep) to catch up on some media or music. Australian chef Luke Mangan creates the onboard menus and our flight included a light lunch with two options. I settled for the sandwich fingers as the mini frittatas proved popular on this trip. Simon was unable to have either of the main options being strictly gluten free. The friendly flight attendant was more than accommodating though, providing quite a few Brookfarm Mt Bogong Walkabout Mix’s and Spotted Cow Cranberry & White Choc/Triple Choc cookies, along with a fruit salad and beverages that were the standard selection for the Business Class flyers.

Virgin is a great option when flying domestically and with an upgrade, makes the short distances even better.
