LOMBARD STREET
WHEN IN SAN FRANCISCO
One must stop by Lombard Street…. whilst on our mini summer tour we made a quick dash up the steep hills to see the most crookedest street in the world and take in the views of The City by the Bay. The popular street wasn’t on the itinerary as navigating a bus would be quite interesting due to the steep inclines, surrounding parking restrictions and where you must park at 90 degrees.
A steady stream of cars slowly weaved their way through the eight hairpin turns, as we walked the stairs at the same pace beside them to reach Hyde Street. From the top of the 27 degree angled block, the view was a tad surprising with Treasure Island and the San Francisco and Oakland Bay Bridge popping into the moment. Pockets of colour from the blooming garden beds that line the faded red paved street and an unusually fog-less day across the bay made for a superb afternoon.
