GLENMORANGIE HOUSE

ELEGANCE AND WHISKY IN THE SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS

On a four month Round the World trip, it was interesting logistics wise to enjoy one night at this historic home of my adopted family. We travelled five and a half hours by regional train from Edinburgh to the small town of Tain and had a private mini van transfer waiting to take us directly to Glenmorangie House at Cadboll.

Upon arrival I couldn’t help notice the brightness of the lawns and the perfect landscaping. The double story Main House was the central point of our luxury and whisky inspired experience. If you appreciate a dram, you will be at home with the Glenmorangie and Ardbeg whisky range on display. There are six guest ensuite rooms with garden or sea views in the Main House as well as The Cottages located behind the house. The guest rooms are recognised by name and not number, the decor is elegant with Scottish influences and enhanced by modern conveniences as well as a miniature decanter of Glenmorangie single malt to enjoy a night cap.

The Green Path was one of my favourite locations on the estate with a beguiling tree-lined pathway towards The Private Beach and lush green grass underneath your Hunter Wellingtons (which are available in all sizes to borrow during a stay). While the beach is in contrast to the golden sand beaches at home, it was still refreshing to soak in the Scottish scenery and crisp sea air. The highlands are alluring, extremely tranquil and you feel relaxed immediately.

A stay at Glenmorangie House is inclusive of an afternoon tea complete with scones, a sample of canapés before a fine dining dinner with the other guests, a traditional Scottish breakfast and a tour of the distillery in Tain. You can also savour another dram with After Dinner Drinks by the fire or opt for a tea along with petit fours. Whether one night or longer, the Glenmorangie experience is incredible.
